  • Are low-income, unskilled employees on an economic flywheel, competing for one low-wage job after another, never to make it up the economic ladder?

  • How do workforce partnerships prepare people for careers in sectors that meet business needs and provide family supporting income?

  • How can we collaborate regionally in order to leverage national funding and technical assistance?

Join your funding colleagues to learn more about the National Fund for Workforce Solutions.

Stephanie Powers, Project Director, National Fund for Workforce Solutions, Council on Foundations, will discuss how communities can integrate the critical issue of human capital development into their “bigger-vision” economic development and education reform philanthropic initiatives.

Paula Gilberto, Senior Vice President, United Way of the Capital Area, will describe how organizations in Greater Hartford are joining together to submit a proposal to the National Workforce Solutions Fund to build a partnership across disciplines of business, philanthropy, community providers, education and government to address this issue in Greater Hartford.

Learn how philanthropic partnerships can complement strategic investments in family economic improvement and about the opportunities for funders to participate in this exciting effort.
