BANK OF AMERICA

Bank of America's Neighborhood Excellence Initiative

Bank of America’s signature philanthropic program, the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, has three primary components – The Neighborhood Builder Award, the Local Heroes Award, and the Student Leaders Award.  The Student Leader Deadline was February 29, 2008 and we will give 5 exceptional high school students the award in both Hartford and Fairfield County.

The deadline for the Neighborhood Builders and Local Heroes Programs is June 27th.  Below are the details of these two award initiatives:

  • Neighborhood Builder Award. For nonprofit organizations that have demonstrated significant achievements in the local focus areas of the Bank of America Foundation. Awardees will receive $200,000 ($100,000 per year for two years) and will participate in a series of leadership development sessions.

  • Local Heroes Award. For individuals whose leadership and vision are making a significant difference in the community. Winners will be able to direct a $5,000 contribution from the Bank of America Foundation to a qualified nonprofit organization of their choice, and will be recognized in an awards ceremony.

ACTION ITEMS:

  • Please tell all the nonprofit organizations in the Hartford and the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk metropolitan statistical area about both the Neighborhood Builder’s Program and the Local Heroes Program and encourage them to apply to these two programs.  Nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for both programs.

  • If you or any family members know of any great volunteers or executive directors at local nonprofits, please consider nominating them for the Local Heroes Awards.   This award is available to volunteers in Hartford County and Fairfield County.
