The Council on Foundations provides education, training, professional development, and publication to help grantmakers respond to society and public issues.
The Foundation Center is a national source of factual data on philanthropy. Publications and a network of library reference collections help grantseekers identify funding sources.
Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) focuses on educational issues, and is a clearinghouse for corporate matching gift programs.
The Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers promotes philanthropy by inspiring and enhancing the leadership and capacity of regional associations of grantmakers and their members in promoting the public good.
GuideStar provides information about the programs and finances of more than 850,000 American charities and nonprofits. Includes news stories on philanthropy and resources for donors and volunteers. Guidestar also has a tutorial for understanding IRS Form 990.
The Independent Sector provides research on the nonprofit sector, promotes philanthropy and volunteering, and maintains an active government relations office.
BBB Wise Giving Alliance develops and supports sound standards in philanthropy to help contributors make wise decisions.
Boardsource Nationwide information center on boards. Helps design board training, publishes material on nonprofit management.
The Chronicle of Philanthropy The bi-weekly newspaper of the non-profit world providing news for charity leaders, fund raisers, grant makers, and other people involved in the philanthropic enterprise.
The National Center for Family Philanthropy assists families and individuals in creating and sustaining their philanthropic missions, focusing solely on matters of importance to families engaged in philanthropy and their effective giving through research, educational materials and programs.
Affinity Group Network Members are a source of grant making information in their areas of interest. Some groups emphasize networking and information exchange among members, while others advocate for an issue or cause.
Philanthropy Journal is a free online news publication published by the A.J. Fletcher Foundation in Raleigh, North Carolina. It covers state, national, and international news about fundraising, giving, managing, volunteering and technology in the philanthropic and nonprofit community. Job postings and a free weekly e-mail bulletin are also available.
Alliance for Justice  A national association of environmental, civil rights, mental health, women's, children's and consumer advocacy organizations. The Alliance advances the cause of justice for all Americans.
OMB Watch focuses on budget issues, regulatory policy, nonprofit advocacy, access to government information, and activities at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
GrantCraft: Practical Wisdom for Grantmakers, a project of the Ford Foundation, offers resources from grantmakers for grantmakers on the tools and techniques of effective grant making. Tools available include guides, videos, and case studies that present the practitioners' view of philanthropy. 
Idealist  Directory of nonprofit and volunteering resources on the Web, with information provided by 16,000 organizations in 130 countries.
The Philanthropy Roundtable advocates that voluntary private action offers the best means of addressing many of society's needs and that a vibrant private sector is critical to creating the wealth that makes philanthropy possible.
