Establish a donor-advised fund at a commercial institution or a nonprofit.

In addition to establishing a donor-advised fund at a community foundation, some donors are establishing donor-advised funds at charitable funds hosted by commercial institutions. A number of Jewish Federations, United Ways and universities are also hosting these funds. In them, you may advise on the recipient of your philanthropic dollars, while the host institution takes care of the financial paperwork, including cutting the check and sending it to the charity or charities of your choice.
