Grantseekers

As part of the Council’s mission to promote effective philanthropy, we seek to enhance the grantmaker/grantseeker relationship. In addition to convening gatherings where grantmakers and grantseekers come together to share information, we provide information and resources for grantseekers including a searchable database of over 2,200 funders in Connecticut – Connecticut Grantmakers Online (CGO).

  • Nonprofit Exemption Revocations Update
The IRS Commissioner "urges organizations to go ahead and file — even though the May 17 deadline has passed." Check the charity section of the IRS website, www.IRS.gov, to read his statement. In Connecticut, 2,438 nonprofits are at risk of losing their tax exempt status. The Pension Protection Act of 2006 required all nonprofit organizations with revenues under $25,000 to file an eCard registration with the IRS within 3 years or lose their exempt status. The eCard is a simple one-page return that can be filled out on the IRS site. You might like to contact any nonprofit organizations on the list to inform them. We have copied the list for Connecticut in an excel spreadsheet and sorted by town to make it easier to check nonprofit organizations.
