Join the Bridgeport Public Education Fund and Fairfield County's Community Foundation as they recognize and celebrate Excellence in Education at the 26th annual Inspiration Awards. They will announce the educators and community leaders who will be receiving awards at the 26th annual Inspiration Awards on May 8, 2019, 3:30 at the Holiday Inn.
The Bridgeport Public Education Fund seeks to reward excellence in education by recognizing 8 Outstanding Teachers in the Bridgeport school district. Additional awards have been added over the years honoring founders of the BPEF:
- The Bellinger Leadership Award, which is given to an exceptional Principal, is named in honor of George Bellinger. George loved visiting the schools and had great admiration for Bridgeport principals.
- The Civic Leadership Award honors Elizabeth M. Pfriem. Betty was a founder of BPEF and was the inspiration for this annual event. Betty believed that teachers, particularly teachers in the Bridgeport public schools, were all unsung heroes.
- BPEF, in partnership with Fairfield County's Community Foundation (FCCF), will present the Beard Excellence in Teaching Awards to two (2) extraordinary teachers each year. The Beard Family established this award in memory of their parents who attended public schools throughout their lives and were strong believers in public education.
