Join the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy for this important series designed to provide background, essential information, and an understanding of the fundamentals of working in philanthropy. Led by Council staff and members with experience and expertise, this virtual series will:

  • provide a historical overview of philanthropy and the types of foundations,
  • review from a governance and legal lens what foundations can and can’t do,
  • delve into the art and process of grantmaking,
  • explore the different roles and power dynamics of working in philanthropy, and
  • examine big questions and debates around impact strategies.

Fundamentals of Philanthropy will take place over five sessions that build on each other. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all five sessions. Each session will also include time to get to know your fellow participants and grow your professional networks.

All sessions will take place virtually from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Monday January 23 through Friday January 27, 2023.
