Member Briefing
For staff and trustees of grantmaking organizations

The Council, in collaboration with The Walker Group and Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation invites you to participate in an interactive conversation around social enterprise investing. Hear from your colleagues who are engaged in this work. Learn how investments in social enterprises can support innovation and the development of new markets, seed new enterprises, and expand access to products or services that contribute to the public good.

Take away a better understanding about:

  • reasons to explore and pursue this type of investment direction
  • how foundations and corporations are using these investments to further their missions, attract other sources of funds, engage their employees, and realize social and philanthropic goals
  • how foundations and corporations are organizing, funding and capitalizing social enterprises

This conversation will be particularly relevant for foundation and corporate grantmakers who have an interest in learning how sustainable revenue streams from these investments can supplement traditional investment and grantmaking practices. There will be ample time for Q&A to address your questions or specific issues.

Conversation Leaders:

Janice Elliott, Executive Director, The Melville Charitable Trust
Kate Emery, CEO, The Walker Group; Founder, CEO, reSet
Amy Fry, Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications, Boehringer Ingelheim USA Corporation
Mally Cox-Chapman, trustee, Elizabeth Mitchell Family Foundation (moderator)
