CEP’s research shows that from the grantee perspective, program officers can be the distinguishing factor between a foundation that makes a difference and one that simply makes grants. To the grantee, the program officer often is the foundation. Grantees perceive foundations as making more of an impact on their organizations, communities, and the fields in which they work when they feel their relationships with their program officer are strong.

Learn about key findings from CEP’s research publication Working Well With Grantees, a guide for foundation staff based on data from tens of thousands of surveys of nonprofit leaders conducted by CEP during the past decade. Participants will also hear about exemplary program officers who have cultivated successful working relationships with the nonprofits they fund.
