Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Provides Support to Merrimack Valley Communities Affected by Gas Explosions

WELLESLEY, MA -- To assist communities in the Merrimack Valley affected by the devasting gas explosions on September 13, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is establishing special procedures for emergency premium assistance for individuals directly enrolled. In addition to the emergency support to ensure coverage, the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation is donating $10,000 to the Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund at the Essex County Community Fund.

Survey Reveals Hurricane Evacuees in Connecticut Need Access to Basic Necessities Including Food, Housing, Medical Services and Jobs

HARTFORD, CT -- About 13,000 residents of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands who arrived in Connecticut in the aftermath of the hurricanes Maria and Irma continue to struggle with obtaining basic needs including adequate housing, food, medical care and jobs, according to a survey commissioned by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Latino Endowment Fund Hosts Event on Puerto Rico Hurricanes and Impact on Greater Hartford

HARTFORD, CT -- The Latino Endowment Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving hosted more than 70 people at the Lyceum in Hartford on Thursday, May 31 to participate in a discussion on the local impacts of Hurricanes Irma and Maria on the Greater Hartford region. Focusing on those who had been displaced from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the convening featured a passionate discussion on how residents and organizations worked together under extremely trying circumstances to provide aid to those in need, think about what still needed to be done and how to plan for potential future challenges.

Bank of America, Employees Deliver More Than $2.8 Million in Hurricane Harvey Relief

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Bank of America today announced that more than $2.8 million has been delivered to Gulf Coast nonprofits collectively supporting short- and long-term Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. In addition to the previously announced $1 million in Hurricane Harvey relief funding the Bank of America Charitable Foundation committed to nonprofit organizations in the days following the hurricane, an outpouring of support from bank employee donations totaling more than $900,000 was also matched dollar-for-dollar through the company’s Employee Matching Gifts program.
