Momentum Fund Announces $8.5 Million in Grants

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Momentum Fund announced today that it has awarded $8.5 million in grants to 129 501(c)(3) organizations around the country managing COVID-19 relief funds that provide grants and other forms of direct support to community-run organizations working with communities of color, historically marginalized populations, and other groups being disproportionately impacted by the pandemic that continues to ravage these communities.

Cigna Supports Pipeline of Urban Superintendents with $250,000 Grant to School of Education

WASHINGTON, DC, and BLOOMFIELD, CT -- Howard University School of Education has tackled systemic inequality in education by creating a pipeline of superintendents of color, specifically trained to lead in urban school districts for the past five years.  Today, the AASA-Howard University Urban Superintendents Academy announced it received a $250,000 grant from Cigna Corporation, a global health service company, to expand the innovative program.

Norwalk Public Schools Launches Educational Equity Study

NORWALK, CT -- Norwalk Public Schools will launch a comprehensive initiative designed to examine and address educational equity in Norwalk. Starting immediately, the district will partner with Temple University's Dr. Edward Fergus on an eight-month project that will include implicit bias and diversity training. The Collective Impact Opportunity Fund at Fairfield County's Community Foundation has committed to funding the Norwalk Educational Equity Initiative. This invitation-only Fund makes grants to public agencies and non-profit organizations striving to close educational, workforce and other opportunity gaps among children, youth and families in Connecticut.
