HARTFORD, CT -- Grants totaling $500,000 have been awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to 65 nonprofit agencies to support programs providing food and other basic human needs to clients throughout Greater Hartford.
New Britain, Conn. (October 15, 2014) – The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has awarded more than $177,000 in grants to non-profit organizations and programs serving Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington, including more than $30,000 in grants to boost early childhood development as part of the Foundation’s signature First Years First initiative.
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, in partnership with The Village for Families & Children, Inc. and Human Resources Agency of New Britain, Inc. provided support for VITA’s free tax preparation assistance through a network of municipal and community providers in the Greater Hartford, and Windham regions, and New Britain. This average federal refund in the regional 2014 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) campaign was $1,850.
HARTFORD and SUFFIELD, CT -- Construction is expected to begin this summer on a handicapped-accessible addition to the Kent Memorial Library in Suffield, thanks, in part, to a $200,000 grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
