Bridgeport Giving Fund: $400 for College Textbooks Needed

BRIDGPORT, CT -- The Connecticut Post is proud to be working for a ninth year with United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and LifeBridge Community Services (formerly FSW) in Bridgeport on a Giving Fund this holiday season. Every Thursday through the end of the year, the Connecticut Post will publish short stories about local families and people in need of a helping hand. The names of those included have been changed to protect their privacy.

The Giving Fund: Many Families Live Paycheck to Paycheck

DANBURY, CT -- During the holiday season, The News-Times, in partnership with the United Way of Western Connecticut, will present stories about ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families every Thursday. Six stories highlighted each week will outline how a local resident or family, whose names have been changed to protect their privacy, could be helped by receiving an estimated dollar amount.

9 Town Transit Seeks Support for Displaced Hurricane Victims in Connecticut

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, CT -- The local public transportation system, 9 Town Transit (9TT), is partnering with the United Way to bring transportation to the residents of Puerto Rico who have landed in Connecticut following the devastating hurricane, Maria. To help provide this service, 9TT has started a fund-raiser. For $59, a donor may purchase a pass that will provide unlimited service on all 9TT bus routes, six days a week for an entire calendar month. Passengers can board a 9TT bus in Middletown, ride down to Old Saybrook, and transfer all the way to Madison or East Lyme.
