WATERBURY, CT -- On August 20, the Connecticut Community Foundation Trustee Fund honored the two recipients of its first-ever Trustee Fund Award: River Smart CT, a collaboration of several local environmental organizations and land trusts, and Almost Home Summer Camp, an educational and recreational summer program created this year for children in Waterbury’s WOW Neighborhood.
HARTFORD, CT -- Twenty-six Hartford middle-school students received a two-week college experience this summer, thanks to the Capital Community College (CCC) Summer Computer Science Program. The class is new among the summer programs supported by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
NEW BRITAIN — Aimed at improving literacy while also providing young students with fun assignments, the school district’s Summer Enrichment Experience program will begin Monday. United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut is helping fund the summer program. The initiative is free to students, who are also provided free breakfast and lunch. Additional funding for the program comes from various providers, including the American Savings Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, Liberty Bank Foundation and the Stocker Foundation.
HARTFORD, CT -- More than 12,000 school-age youth in Greater Hartford are expected to participate in summer learning programs thanks to more than $790,000 in grants from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The grants have been awarded to 61 programs, operated by 46 agencies, to support 37 campership (reduced fees), 11 tutorial, nine counselor-in-training and four enrichment programs. Most of the programs run between four and eight weeks. The Hartford Foundation funding targets summer program funding to support the participation of youth from Hartford and East Hartford and youth with disabilities from throughout the Greater Hartford region.
