Primary Purpose:

The CFO is a core member of the agency’s executive leadership team and plays an active role in the strategic planning and implementation processes. This position is responsible for aligning financial priorities while keeping in mind our mission and vision. The CFO oversees budgeting, cash, expenditure control, audits, capital assets, reporting and investing management. They will be tasked with ensuring the development and implementation of comprehensive controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the agency's financial results. This position is also directly responsible for the acquisition and leasing of all agency owned properties. Lastly, this position serves as an internal consultant to the CEO on all financial matters.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in organizational strategy as a member of the leadership team, including the development of organization-wide and department goals, strategies, key metrics and strategic outcomes
  • Assess, plan, and implement financial strategies including short and long-term objectives that support organizational goals
  • Maximize the potential of financial software, ensure high data quality, and develop and produce regular dashboards, reports, and analyses
  • Ensure financial records and statements are maintained in accordance with all state and federal grant reporting requirements and adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ensure the agency meets critical regulatory and legal compliance benchmarks
  • Prepare and present annual budgets for Board approval
  • Communicate with the Board of Directors regarding organization performance, economic trends, and financial sustainability
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Directors Finance Committee
  • Offer recommendations to the CEO and Board regarding financial investments
  • Procure business insurance for the agency and serve as the primary point of contact  
  • Work directly with HR to negotiate all employee benefits and contracts
  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the agency, including supervision of the organization’s finance staff
  • Oversees the acquisition and maintenance of the agency’s properties including supervision of the Director of Fixed Assets and the Operations Manager
  • Invest in staff, develop high-performing and high-functioning teams, and strengthen culture to maintain/improve the organization's business operations.

Qualifications

  • MBA, CPA, or similar advanced degree required
  • 10+ Experience with non-profit accounting and reporting
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with Quickbooks
  • 10+ years successful experience with nonprofit financial leadership
  • Experience in a social services or clinical agency setting preferred but not required; we will consider all candidates with outstanding leadership qualifications
