Housing Vital to Reducing Recidivism for Returning Citizens

Legal Aid Nonprofit Receives 15K Grant

NEW HAVEN, CT -- A grant from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven will increase legal support for nonprofits in the tri-state area. Pro Bono Partnership — a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting tri-state region nonprofits to free legal services from volunteer lawyers — received a $15,000 grant from the Foundation last month.... Braille Program to Offer York Inmates Job, Purpose

NIANTIC, CT -- The prison Braille program at York will be a partnership between the American Printing House for the Blind, Department of Correction and the state Department of Rehabilitation Services' Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind. The J. Walton Bissell Foundation of West Hartford awarded APH a $26,000 grant to buy computers and other equipment needed to launch the program, including a Perkins Braille embosser, translation software and Braille paper.

American Savings Foundation Awards $85K to Children's Law Center

NEW BRITAIN, CT -- The American Savings Foundation board of directors announced that it has awarded two grants totaling $85,000 to the Children’s Law Center of Connecticut (CLC).  The grants are $75,000 to support the Legal Representation program in New Britain and Waterbury, and $10,000 to the Families in Transition program.
