HARTFORD, CT - Individuals and foundations in Connecticut gave $5 billion in charitable contributions during 2015, according to the Connecticut Giving Report, an annual publication of the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy.

HARTFORD, CT -- Despite a slow decline in the number of Connecticut foundations and individuals making charitable donations and grants, giving rose 11 percent to a record $5 billion in 2015, the most recent for which data is available, the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy (CCP) said Tuesday. The approximately $500 million increase follows a dip of 3.2 percent the year prior.

NEW HAVEN, CT -- Charitable giving rose by 11 percent to reach $5 billion in 2015, the most recent year for which data is available, according to the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy. In a report released Tuesday, the council said giving increased across three tracked sources: individuals, bequests and foundations. The majority of Connecticut’s charitable giving in 2015 came from individual donations —both traditional giving and bequests — which rose 76 percent to $3.81 billion.

HARTFORD, CT -- At its March board meeting, the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy (CCP) voted Kathryn Luria of Woodbury, senior vice president of community affairs and director of philanthropy for Webster Bank, as the new board chair to replace outgoing Chair Judith Meyers, president and CEO of Children’s Fund of Connecticut.
