Aurora Announces 2020 Grant Opportunity for College Success Programs

Wednesday, January 15, 2020

HARTFORD, CT -- The Aurora Women and Girls Foundation has announced a grant opportunity with funds to be awarded in Summer 2020. The Aurora Foundation is the only free-standing foundation in Connecticut focused solely on supporting women and girls. Since 2000, Aurora has invested over $890,000 in more than 55 programs in Greater Hartford, each aimed at improving the lives of women and girls in the region.

Eligible organizations are those running programs serving women and girls in Greater Hartford by providing critical academic support and other services designed to enable a greater number of women to complete their college education and fulfill their graduation requirements. The Foundation’s Aurora Report reveals that completing college is critical to a woman’s economic stability and wellbeing.  For many women in Greater Hartford, reaching graduation requires academic and social supports that meet their distinct needs. Together, by developing, funding and delivering strategic solutions for local women in college, we can make substantial individual, family and community impact.

To be eligible for a grant from the Aurora Women and Girls Foundation, your organization must meet the following guidelines:

  • Your organization must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status; or must be a governmental, educational or research institution with tax-exempt status.
  • Your grant proposal must be for a program based in Greater Hartford that impacts women and girls.
  • Your grant proposal must be for a program that aims to increase the college completion rate of women and girls in Greater Hartford.

Total grant funding available for 2020 is $110,000. We expect to fund 4-6 programs.
