In partnership with the Bees, more than 200 complimentary tickets were distributed to children and families taking part in programs at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA and the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library.
Children enjoyed an autograph session with Bees players prior to the game, were treated to box seats for the contest and took part in a community parade across the field during the game as they were recognized by the public address announcer and saluted by the crowd. The evening was capped off with a fireworks display.
“We had a great time and the children really enjoyed having the opportunity to attend Happy faces 7-8-16the ballgame and be recognized,” said Dee Daigle, Youth and Family Program Director with the New Britain-Berlin YMCA. “They’ll be talking about this night for a long time to come.”
“It is our pleasure to treat the children and families of the communities we serve to a night at the ballgame,” said Jim Williamson, President of the Community Foundation. “What better way for the Foundation to celebrate its diamond anniversary than in the company of families who enjoy many of the very community programs the Foundation supports?”
Three additional Community Foundation Nights remain this summer. Plainville Night with the Bees takes place on Friday, July 29; New Britain Night with the Bees is on Friday, August 5; and the final event is Southington Night with the Bees on August 12.
Complimentary tickets are limited and are being distributed by the Bees on the Foundation’s behalf to local youth programs and organizations. The Foundation is not managing ticket distribution.
