Connecticut Community Foundation Invites Nonprofits to Participate in 4th Annual Online Giving Challenge

Thursday, January 7, 2016

WATERBURY, CT -- Connecticut Community Foundation will host its fourth annual online community giving challenge, Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills, from 7 a.m. on May 3 to 7 p.m. on May 4, 2016.  Since the first event in 2013, Give Local has infused the nonprofit community with nearly $2 million in unrestricted funding.  Ion Bank Foundation is the presenting sponsor of the event.

Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills inspires people throughout the region to make charitable donations to local nonprofit organizations that make a stronger, more vibrant community.  Donors will be able to learn about area organizations and make online contributions at a single web site – – throughout the 36-hour challenge.  For added incentive, every gift made during Give Local will be stretched further with bonus funds contributed by the Foundation and its generous sponsors.  Bonus funds will be awarded proportionally to all nonprofits that receive donor gifts during Give Local - the more money a particular organization raises from its donors, the more bonus funds it will receive.  Nonprofits may win cash prizes as well.

The Foundation is now accepting registrations from area nonprofits to participate in Give Local this year.  “We encourage all eligible groups to join us for this unparalleled opportunity,” comments Paula Van Ness, President and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation.  “Over the past three years, we have seen many organizations surpass their fundraising goals, engage new or lapsed donors, and raise community awareness of their missions as a result of Give Local.”

Nonprofit organizations that provide services in CCF’s 21-town service area of Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills are encouraged to participate.  Nonprofit eligibility and registration details are available at  The registration deadline is March 30, 2016. Organizations that provide services in the Foundation’s region but do not have a physical office in the service area must also complete an application for eligibility, which is due March 1, 2016.
