Generous Local Donors Support Puerto Rico Relief

Saturday, November 18, 2017

WATERBURY, CT -- In the wake of several fall hurricanes, Connecticut Community Foundation heard from donors wondering how to give so that they would make an impact in the affected communities. They heard particular concern for Puerto Rico, where many local residents have ties and where damage is especially devastating.

Knowing that their sister community foundations are well-equipped to know where to direct funds, they asked the community to make gifts through the foundation to help those in such great need. Thanks to an outpouring of generosity, Connecticut Community Foundation proudly sent $8,000 to Hispanics in Philanthropy, which has partnered with the Puerto Rico Community Foundation.

Now, Greater Waterbury region has an influx of Puerto Ricans resettling locally while rebuilding continues at home. Local schools have welcomed nearly 100 new students and several local organizations are partnering to ensure they receive assistance.

To make a gift, which will be directed to organizations working to help our new neighbors thrive click here >>. Please type "Puerto Rico relocation" in the field for special purpose.
