NEW HAVEN, CT -- New Haven’s Quinnipiac School will get some needed improvements and “spring cleaning” on April 26, when a group of area Comcast employees will lead a volunteer day at the site as part of Comcast Cares Day. Community groups and the public are welcome to join the effort.

MYSTIC, CT - Mystic Aquarium, a unit of Sea Research Foundation, has received a $250,000 grant from the John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut, to support construction of The Ocean Research and Conservation Center, a state-of-the-art veterinary and animal health center, as it expands its research mandate.

HARTFORD, CT -- Hartford Stage has been awarded the 2014 Excellence In Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Award for Children’s Education Program of the Year by the Institute for Financial Literacy. The award was given for the Hartford Stage Financial Literacy Program, an adaptation of a Wells Fargo program, which uses theatre techniques to teach the basics of banking and money management.

MIDDLETOWN, CT—Yesterday morning, 320 seniors at Middletown High School got a taste of what it’s like to live on their own and manage their own finances at the first-ever Middletown Credit for Life Fair. This half-day financial education event is presented by a collaborative of Middletown businesses and nonprofits, led by Liberty Bank, Seasons Federal Credit Union, and Sterling Realtors.

HARTFORD, CT – The Connecticut Health Foundation’s (CT Health) board of directors recently awarded a one-year $75,000 grant to the Texas Health Institute (THI) to measure Access Health CT’s (AHCT) implementation of specific Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions explicitly intended to improve the health of diverse populations. The resulting “Health Equity Report Card” will monitor AHCT’s progress in ensuring that all Connecticut residents have an equal opportunity to enroll and use health insurance coverage.
