HEBRON, CT -- AHM Youth & Family Services seeks a seasoned finance professional to manage the fiscal, grant management, human resources, and operational functions of the agency. The Director of Finance & Operations will play a critical role in partnering with the leadership team in strategic decision-making as AHM continues to build capacity and enhance its quality programming.


Responsibilities:

Fiscal:

  • Work in partnership with the Executive Director to oversee the operations of the organization.
  • Prepare financial reporting and analysis to contribute to the enhancement of organizational strategies and strategic thinking.
  • Create the organization’s annual general budget and individual program budgets.
  • Oversee the accounting and recording of all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit transactions; ensure proper collection and distribution of funds.
  • Assist the Executive Director and Fund Development Director in studying economic trends; produce financial reports by developing forecasts, preparing cash flow projections, and analyzing variances.
  • Analyze organization operations; identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulate capital to fund expansion.
  • Oversee the administration of payroll; prepare mandated tax reporting.
  • Responsible for the management of the organization’s Cost Allocation accounting method.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the agency’s investment accounts.
  • Responsible for risk management and internal controls.

Grant Management:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Fund Development Director to manage and support all grant requirements.
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process.
  • Create budgets for all grant opportunities.
  • Supervise the invoicing, accounting, and reporting to ensure successful execution of the grant process.
  • Provide detailed reports to the funders and the Board of Directors with respect to the implementation and outcome of the grant requirements.

Human Resources and Supervisory:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to determine the organization’s goals and strategy with regards to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Supervise the HR Specialist in the administration of the organization’s benefit plans, recruitment and hiring, updating of personnel policies as needed; maintenance of personnel records, and salary and benefits surveys.
  • Assist the Executive Director in the interpretation of all personnel matters.
  • Assist Program Coordinators with financial implementation of program budgets.
  • Supervise the Administrative Support Staff.

Technology & Facility Systems:

  • Oversee computer operations of the organization (back-ups, trouble-shooting, maintenance).
  • Review and implement technology, facility systems, and organizational equipment as needed.
  • Hire all building vendors; assess building needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all donor databases, accounting software, and client billing software.

Requirements:

  • Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in non-profit accounting, finance management, grant management, and cost allocation methodology.
  • Knowledge of retirement plans, current labor laws, payroll taxes, and liability insurance highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Accounting Software (non-profit version preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and related software required.
  • Strong leadership skills required, along with personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication.
  • Must possess exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
