Unrestricted Funds to Help Address Unmet Needs & Lack of Resources They Face

MIDDLETOWN, CT -- Liberty Bank today announced that through their charitable foundation they are committing $100,000 to help area hospitals and frontline healthcare workers in Connecticut. These dollars will address the unmet needs and lack of critical resources hospitals depend on to effectively combat COVID-19 afflicting our communities.

The emergency grant will be equally divided among four area healthcare networks in Connecticut that operate hospitals in Liberty Bank’s service area. Each healthcare network will receive $25,000. The grant is unrestricted so the healthcare networks can use the funds to meet the needs arising from COVID-19, however they so choose. The funds can be directed to hospitals by the health networks at their discretion.

“Every day we hear the inspirational and extraordinary stories of our frontline healthcare workers, hospital care teams and first-responders in Connecticut who are treating patients and families during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said David W. Glidden, President & CEO of Liberty Bank and President of the Liberty Bank Foundation. “Our hospitals are stretched far beyond capacity to replenish some of the basic medical necessities and generate ongoing support as they treat hospital admissions.”

“The Liberty Bank team stands ready to support our hospitals and healthcare professionals so they have the strength and resources they need to heal our communities,” Glidden added.

The following four healthcare networks that operate ten hospitals in Liberty’s service area will directly benefit from the $100,000 unrestricted grant:

Hartford HealthCare ($25,000):

  • Hartford Hospital, Hartford

  • MidState Medical, Meriden

  • Windham Hospital, Willimantic

  • Backus Hospital, Norwich

  • Hospital of Central CT, New Britain & Southington

Trinity Health of New England ($25,000):

  • St Francis Hospital, Hartford

  • St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury

Yale New Haven Health ($25,000):

  • Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven

  • Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, New London

Middlesex Health ($25,000):

  • Middlesex Hospital, Middletown

In addition to the Foundation grant and among other COVID-19 relief efforts led by the Bank, some Liberty Bank branch employees are surprising healthcare workers and first responders in their respective markets with lunch. Not only is it their way of showing appreciation for what our medical heroes and first responders are doing, but it also helps generate revenue for local small businesses which is much needed during these uncertain times.
