NORWALK, CT -- Fairfield County Giving Day starts at midnight on March 1st! This is Fairfield County’s biggest philanthropic day of the year, when everyone has the chance to be a philanthropist and to support causes nearest to their hearts! This year Fairfield County is celebrating our 5th annual Giving Day and the clock is ticking, so go to FCGIVES.org now and search for the nonprofits you want to support with a donation.  Remember, as little as $10 can make a difference to any one of our 437 participating nonprofits!

Giving Day is a dynamic 24-hour online fundraising event powered by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation that began in 2014. Over the past 4 years, Giving Day has raised over $4.5 million for more than 650 nonprofits from over 55,000 donations.

Nonprofits are participating this year to boost funding and create awareness about the amazing work they do throughout the region. And they utilize every dollar donated. Did you know that Fairfield County nonprofits help feed 1-in-10 Fairfield County families that struggle to find their next meal and 35,000 children living in food insecure households?  Nonprofits also help bolster cultural programs, strengthen our schools, shelter the homeless, train the unemployed, protect our environment and so much more.

In 2018 our champion sponsor, Bank of America, back for our 5th annual Giving Day is helping to empower all community members to participate in philanthropy by encouraging local giving to nonprofits, serving the 23 towns and cities of Fairfield County.

“Giving Day has become a day of hope for nonprofits throughout our region. Their need is great and their resources are vastly depleted. Over the past four years you, along with community members throughout Fairfield County, have joined us to inspire giving. Today is no different. We need every one of our residents, coworkers and friends to act generously from the heart one more time,” said Juanita James, CEO and President, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.  “Collectively we can and will change the lives of our neighbors. The impact we will make today for the people and places of Fairfield County’s is vital because… together we thrive!”

What’s truly amazing about Giving Day is that it’s an opportunity for each one of us to do something positive for our community. So gather your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers and “give where you live,” Fairfield County! Your gift – whatever the size – will help nonprofits compete for over $100,000 in cash prizes ranging from $250 to $20,000.

Fairfield County’s Community Foundation and champion sponsor Bank of America are Giving Day’s driving forces. “It’s inspiring to see how Fairfield County Giving Day unites our neighbors, colleagues and partners to transform the way we think about and participate in giving,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut Market President, Bank of America. “We’re excited to help champion this effort for the fifth time, and look forward to seeing how together, we can support hundreds of the local nonprofits that serve as the cornerstone of our community.”

In addition to Bank of America, Giving Day is supported by the generosity of Media Partner, Hearst Media Group Connecticut; Moffly Media; Star 99.9 and 95.9 Fox; Barrett Outdoor Communications; News12 Connecticut; Whole Foods; Sacred Heart University Master of Public Administration; Neuberger Berman; Webster Private Bank; BlumShapiro; Cummings & Lockwood LLC; Day Pitney; First County Bank; RZH Advisors; Brewport; Nikki Glekas Events and Chelsea Piers Connecticut.

TODAY, go to FCGives.org and “Give Where You Live!”. Fairfield County’s Giving Day ends promptly at 11:59 pm ET on March 1st.
