SHEFFIELD, MA — The Region One Athletic Fund, managed by Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, has awarded $8,150 to individuals and organizations throughout the Connecticut’s Region One School District. The fund provides opportunities for students of all ages to compete and excel in the sport or physical activity of their choice, encouraging teamwork and friendly competition. Kaylie Anderson: to take part in Challenger Sports’ British Soccer Camp.
Rigby Begley: to attend Erik Nates Euro Hockey summer camp.
Zoe Benjamin: to enroll in dance classes at Studio 22 in Amenia, NY.
Genevieve Bushey: to participate in the Connecticut Northern Lights Girls Hockey program.
Donnie Cahill: to attend Offense-Defense football camp at Bryant University.
Jasper Cole: to attend Pro Ambitions Hockey Camp.
Ashley Coon: to participate in the Nike Volleyball camp at Sacred Heart University.
Victoria Dodge: to attend Woodward Camp and Northwest Gymnastics summer camp.
Marra Elesser: to attend Spirit Sports Camp for Girls.
Liam Gawel: to attend hockey camp and football camp, participate in the 2014 football season and purchase hockey equipment.
Owen Gawel: to participate in a summer soccer camp, hockey camp and both soccer and hockey seasons.
Sadie Grusauski: to attend Spirit Sports Camp for Girls.
Lydia Klingebiel: to attend Spirit Sports Camp for Girls.
Brogan Lamb: to attend a hockey camp at Brewster Ice Arena.
Emily and Madison Lang: to participate in Spirit Sports Camp for Girls.
Alan Lovejoy: to attend pole vault camp for coaches at Rhode Island College.
Aliza Luminati: to participate in Northwest Gymnastics summer camp.
Dylan Mayo: to attend YMCA Camp Sloane.
John Purdy: to attend Pro Crease Goaltending, a camp for hockey goaltenders.
Linnea Saxton: to practice in intermediate gymnastics at Cape Cod Gymnastics.
William Saxton: to participate in Gym Dandy Gymnastics class at Cape Cod Gymnastics.
Seth Ryan Schullery: to attend the Learn to Skate MiniMite hockey program in New Milford, Conn.
Noah Shippa: to play basketball at Prime Time Hoop Camp.
Caleb Shpur: to attend Hit Club AAU Baseball – 13U in Thomaston, Conn.
Jacob Shpur: to take baseball lessons through the Hit Club program.
Jacob D. Simonds: to attend Offense-Defense football camp at Bryant University.
Samantha Starr: to attend Gunn Brook Farm’s horse camp.
William Starr: to participate in the Kent Youth Hockey program.
Marijke, Sylvie and Theo Stiffler: to attend FC Sarum’s soccer camp
Katherine Tortorella: to take part in Colgate Women’s Lacrosse Raider Elite Summer Camp.
Ashley Wilkins: to attend Spirit Sports Camp for Girls.
Grants were also awarded to two group projects:
Housy Hoop Summer Basketball: to host a summer basketball league.
Northwest United: to host a travel soccer club in the northwest district of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association.
The Region One Athletic Fund supports a variety of programs, including: summer training and camp programs; movement classes to improve performance; master classes; coach training; equipment and uniform purchases; transportation fees; and facility improvement. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to apply for grants, which range from $100 to $1,000.
