Women & Girls’ Fund Hosting Lunch & Learn

The Women & Girls' Fund of Main Street Community Foundation is hosting a Lunch & Learn for local nonprofit professionals and volunteers to discuss the Fund’s grant process as well as the critical needs and issues local girls and women face. This luncheon will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 11 am – 1 pm at Tunxis@Bristol, which is located at 430 North Main Street in Bristol.

A portion of the Lunch & Learn will focus on the process for submitting Women & Girls’ Fund’s grant applications, which are currently being accepted. Nonprofit organizations with programs serving women and girls in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and/or Wolcott may be eligible to apply. Full guidelines, eligibility criteria and links to the online application are available on the Foundation’s website, www.mainstreetfoundation.org. All proposals are due by 4 pm on September 29, 2017.

Organizations interested in applying are required to contact Jarre Betts, Vice President of Programs, or Kate Kerchaert, Program Officer, at 860.583.6363 before submitting a proposal.

Organizations serving Burlington residents are also invited to apply for a grant from the Burlington Community Fund. In addition, the Bradley Henry Barnes and Leila Upson Barnes Memorial Trust is accepting Letters of Intent from nonprofits supporting the health and health care needs of Southington residents. Proposals for the above programs are due September 15, 2017.

The Women & Girls’ Fund was created in 2001 as a community-based endowment of the Main Street Community Foundation. The Women & Girls’ Fund supports opportunities to improve the conditions for women of all ages in the towns of Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott. Over the past 16 years, the Women & Girls’ Fund has awarded nearly $400,000 in grants and immediate response funds to over 80 organizations benefiting women and girls in the communities of Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.
