BRISTOL, CT -- Main Street Community Foundation awarded $465,226 in general operating support grants to help sustain nonprofit organizations in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.

HARTFORD, CT -- United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut is pleased to announce that the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) has awarded a grant in the amount of $150,000 in support of the Connecticut United Ways COVID-19 Response Fund.
DANBURY, CT -- United Way of Western Connecticut and the Danbury Fair Mall collected 4,000 pounds of nonperishable food at a food drive conducted on Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, 2020 in the Mall’s parking lot. In addition, the event, which served as this year’s United Way Day of Action, also raised $2,400 in donations. Both the food and the monetary donations will be distributed among nine food pantries in the greater Danbury area that are members of the Danbury Food Collaborative.
NEW BRITAIN – Supporting more city residents and families, the American Savings Foundation has donated $35,000 toward United Way’s Neighbors in Need Fund. Because United Way already specializes in supporting local nonprofit organizations, the funds were able to get a quick turnaround and have been given toward six New Britain nonprofit organizations, including the Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc., Human Resources Agency of New Britain, the Prudence Crandall Center, YMCA of New Britain and Berlin, the CCARC Services for people with disabilities, and the Consolidated School District of New Britain.

Connecticut Health Foundation, 4-CT partner to provide $1.89 million to hire, train 40 community health workers
NORWALK, CT -- On Monday, the City of Norwalk announced the Connectivity Initiative to try and help the 7-8 percent of children who did not have high-quality, reliable internet service. Dalio Education is the lead supporter of the initiative, providing $315,000 to Norwalk Public Schools which will contract with Altice/Optimum to provide high-speed internet to the 1,000 Norwalk families. This will be supplemented with a $50,000 grant from the Be Foundation. The Per and Astrid Heidenreich Family Foundation and The Ritter Family Foundation have each provided grants of $125,000 to support the Community Services Department and the Family Navigators.
