In addition to the previously announced $1 million in Hurricane Harvey relief funding the Bank of America Charitable Foundation committed to nonprofit organizations in the days following the hurricane, an outpouring of support from bank employee donations totaling more than $900,000 was also matched dollar-for-dollar through the company’s Employee Matching Gifts program.
FAIR HAVEN, CT -- United Way of Greater New Haven learned late last week that the influx of families from Puerto Rico was straining the food delivery efforts in Fair Haven. United Way donors answered the call for help, and in just a few days, we collected $3,750—enough to provide food for 75 families.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY, CT -- The local public transportation system, 9 Town Transit (9TT), is partnering with the United Way to bring transportation to the residents of Puerto Rico who have landed in Connecticut following the devastating hurricane, Maria. To help provide this service, 9TT has started a fund-raiser. For $59, a donor may purchase a pass that will provide unlimited service on all 9TT bus routes, six days a week for an entire calendar month. Passengers can board a 9TT bus in Middletown, ride down to Old Saybrook, and transfer all the way to Madison or East Lyme.
