The Green Book Has Hartford Debut – Documentary Tells Real Story of Guide to Freedom Through Segregated America

HARTFORD, CT -- The documentary, “The Green Book: Guide to Freedom,” was shown at a special preview at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, in a showing coordinated by the Amistad Center for Art and Culture, Comcast, and the Smithsonian Channel.  It marked the third year that Comcast has joined with the Amistad Center and Smithsonian Channel to bring a special presentation to Hartford during Black History month.

The Tow Foundation Supports Investigative Journalism with J-School’s First FRONTLINE Fellow Rahima Nasa

NEW YORK, NY -- Rahima Nasa, an alum from the Class of 2017, has been selected as the first Newmark J-School fellow for FRONTLINE, PBS’s flagship investigative documentary series. The new year-long journalism fellowship program is funded by The Tow Foundation, which also underwrites the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism, the Tow Professorships, and other initiatives at the J-School.

Newly Restored WPA-era Paintings Highlighted in New Exhibition at Leonard & Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts

BROOKLYN, NY -- Thanks to a generous gift from the Class of 1964, the portrait of a young woman now hangs with 12 other paintings restored to their former vibrancy in the new Leonard & Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts, part of the exhibit “A New Deal for Artists: Connecting Brooklyn College to Its Past, Present, and Future.”

University of Saint Joseph ArtsMentor Program Awarded Funding from National Endowment for the Arts and Richard P. Garmany Fund

WEST HARTFORD, CT -- The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) today announced that ArtsMentors, a community engagement program for underserved youth, has received $10,000 in funding support from both the National Endowment for the Arts Challenge America Program and the Richard P. Garmany Fund, a donor-advised fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
