NEW BRITAIN, CT -- The American Savings Foundation board of directors met recently in the midst of the COVID-19 public health crisis and approved strategic decisions to help ensure funding will make the greatest impact to different organizations and programs in a time of need. The Foundation approved $288,500 in Program Grants and Community Grants to support a wide range of nonprofit and community partners. In keeping with emerging best practices, these grants were awarded with as few restrictions as possible, and in many cases can be used to support general operations.

MIDDLETOWN, CT -- Connecticut United Ways COVID-19 Response Fund is beginning to disburse payments to those who are suffering the financial consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund has raised approximately $450,000 for the first round of distributions to help Connecticut residents who have lost their jobs, lost hours at work, or may be facing other financial hardships as a result of the pandemic.
