Hurricane Maria Response

The devastating effects of hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico are still unfolding, but one thing is certain—the island's most vulnerable communities are likely to be pummeled the hardest and face the longest road to recovery.

How to Help - Funds

Hurricane Maria Puerto Rico Relief Fund
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain and the American Savings Foundation, with leadership by State Representative Bobby Sanchez of New Britain, New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart and Marlo Greponne of HRA of New Britain, have together established the Fund at the Community Foundation. The fund aims to serve as a central and local charitable hub for those in New Britain and surrounding communities who wish to support, through charitable donations, the more than 3.4 million Puerto Rican citizens ravaged this week by Hurricane Maria.

The Progreso Latino Fund (PLF)
PLF, a fund at The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, is supporting the emergency response in Puerto Rico through a $5,000 gift to the Hispanic Federation. The donation is part of the New Haven relief effort led by State Rep. Juan Candelaria and Arte, Inc.  For long-term rebuilding and humanitarian assistance in Puerto Rico, PLF has given $10,000 to Hispanics in Philanthropy, which is in partnership with the Puerto Rico Community Recovery Fund at the Puerto Rico Community Foundation. The recovery fund will continue supporting organizations working in local communities long after the emergency responders have left.  Hispanics in Philanthropy is matching all donations. Both the Hispanic Federation and Hispanics in Philanthropy are using 100% of the money raised to fund organizations that are on the ground working to meet the needs of people in the community.

United for Puerto Rico: Together Changing Paths
United for Puerto Rico is an initiative brought forth by the First lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló in collaboration with the private sector, with the purpose of providing aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the passage of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane María.

2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund
This Center for Disaster Philanthropy fund was launched just as Maria started its fierce trajectory across the Caribbean. They made the determination to start a fund dedicated to the full range of needs brought by the 2017 hurricane season, given that there are many weeks until the season ends. They are paying very close attention to the devastation brought by Hurricane Maria in the Caribbean.

Hurricane Maria Community Relief & Recovery Fund
The Fund will be housed at the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD). One hundred percent of monies raised will be used to support immediate relief, recovery, and equitable rebuilding in Puerto Rico for the communities hit hardest by the storm. The Fund is governed by organizations like Puerto Rico-based Taller Salud and other local, grassroots organizations.

Hurricane Relief Fund For Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Florida
Right now, people in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Florida need our help. Hispanics in Philanthropy created this fund so that our community can support those affected by Hurricanes Maria and Irma.

Puerto Rico Real-Time Recovery Fund
100% of donations to this fund will go exclusively to long-term relief for the victims of catastrophic Hurricane María in Puerto Rico. This fund has been organized and is managed by the non-profit ConPRmetidos in partnership with Foundation for Puerto Rico, a 501(c)(3) corporation, which is acting as the fiscal sponsor.
