United Way 2-1-1 Continues to Respond to Hurricane Needs

ROCKY HILL, CT -- Recent natural disasters have resulted in United Way of Connecticut 2-1-1 supporting relief efforts both nationally and in Connecticut. Thanks to support from Connecticut United Ways and the State of Connecticut, 2-1-1 Connecticut has provided direct relief, helped coordinate relief efforts and is now working as part of the State's Emergency Management Unified Command response to support those evacuated or displaced by recent and tragic natural disasters.

Debate Over Prescription Drug Pricing Moves To States

HARTFORD, CT -- The Yale Global Health Justice Partnership, in collaboration with the National Physicians Alliance and Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut, released a policy paper entitled, “Curbing Unfair Drug Prices: A Primer for States.” The paper is intended to outline the state-level initiatives that can be taken to rein in prescription drug prices.

Partnership Pledges More Help For Hartford Community Schools
HARTFORD, CT -- In a time of uncertainty, leaders in Hartford public schools, nonprofit agencies and the philanthropic sector say they are committed to the city’s “community school” strategy that has been cited as a national model. On Wednesday, members of the Hartford Partnership for Student Success, a coalition that includes public and private partners, signed another yearlong agreement to continue the decade-old “wraparound” help that has turned a half-dozen city schools into neighborhood hubs with health services, after-school programs, clothing banks and holiday dinners. The Hartford Partnership for Student Success is supported by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Hartford Public Schools, the Office for Youth Services, and the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.
