BAD SONS Beer Co. Doing Good Deeds in the Valley for The Great Give® 2018

DERBY, CT -- Charity is on tap at BAD SONS Beer Company in Derby for The Great Give® 2018! Throughout the month of April, proceeds from the BAD SONS’ Charitable Tap Line will be going towards a “great” cause. $1 from every beer purchased from the Charity Tap Line will be going towards a prize for Valley nonprofit organizations participating in The Great Give® 2018. 

The Great Give® 2018, which will be taking place from 8 a.m. May 1st to 8 p.m. May 2nd, aims to raise $1.5 million in 36-hours in the Greater New Haven region. More than 450 nonprofits have registered to participate in the online giving event organized by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. The BAD SONS Charity Tap Happy Hour Prize will be awarded to the to the Valley organization with the greatest number of donors between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on May 2nd.  

“At BAD SONS Beer Co. we believe the popularity of craft beer can and should be used to bring people together for the benefit of the local community,” says Mike Student, Brand Commander at BAD SONS Beer Co. “Our ‘BAD SONS doing GOOD THINGS’ charity tap line was introduced for this exact reason and through this tap line, we are able to create awareness and give back to our local charities who support our Valley community. We are proud and excited for the first time this year to participate in The Great Give®!” 

Derby Mayor, Rich Dziekan, will additionally be stepping behind the bar as a guest bartender on Wednesday, April 11th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Mayor Dziekan’s tips for the evening and 25% of the proceeds will be donated to Valley Community Foundation. 

“Whether it’s through special events, giving days like The Great Give®, or establishing a fund for a specific cause, there are a range of creative ways people can participate in philanthropy,” said John Ready, Donor Services and Communications Officer at the Valley Community Foundation. “We are thrilled to be partnering with local businesses like BAD SONS Beer Co., working with our municipalities, and building some excitement about supporting Valley nonprofits.” 

Later this month, the Valley Community Foundation and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven will host a happy hour social at BAD SONS for Valley nonprofits and young professional groups from around the state.
