One Resident’s Legacy Benefits Music-Loving Students

BRISTOL, CT -- Selected Bristol Public School students are given the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument or take voice lessons during the summer months. These students have a true passion for making music and want to continue their education outside of school with lessons. Thanks to the Dan Cistulli Memorial Music Fund at Main Street Community Foundation, 7 Bristol students received grants to take instrumental or voice lessons this summer.

“These small grants will leave a mark on the students’ lives, and the community, for many years to come,” said Susan Sadecki, President & CEO of Main Street Community Foundation.

Students were chosen through an application process that includes an essay about how music inspires them and how it has impacted their life.

“The Dan Cistulli Memorial Music Fund not only provides dedicated and deserving music students the opportunity to further their education and ability, but it also continues Dan’s legacy of helping students in need,” stated Susan Sadecki.

When Dante (Dan) Dominic Cistulli II passed away suddenly in 2004, his family thought about what his legacy would be and how his memory could inspire and help others. Dan had a lifelong commitment to music so it was natural that his family establish the Dan Cistulli Memorial Music Fund to support Bristol students in need of financial assistance to purchase musical instruments and/or instrumental or voice lessons.

"The Cistulli family is thrilled to be able to help these students with their musical endeavors,” stated John Cistulli, Dan’s brother. “Dan would be very pleased to know his love of music is being carried on by these young musicians.”
