A total of $1 million, from the American Rescue Plan Act, was split between 34 nonprofits who serve the Guilford community. The awards ranged from $5,000 to $75,000.  The Guilford Foundation is administering the funds.

“It’s just a tremendous opportunity for us to put funds into the nonprofit world who had been dramatically impacted by COVID,” said First Selectman Matt Hoey.

“Their ability to have fundraising events, their ability to attract donors was severely impacted,” he said. “So, this was an opportunity for them to get whole or to get a little healthier with this one-time infusion.”

The money is part of the town’s $6.5 million distribution from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), created to address the negative impacts caused by the COVID public health emergency.
