BERLIN, CT -- Eversource is pleased to announce Theresa Hopkins-Staten has been named as the new President of the Eversource Energy Foundation.  In this role, Hopkins-Staten will oversee the energy company's social responsibility programs to ensure their continued alignment with the company's overall mission and philanthropic strategy.

Hopkins-Staten, who currently serves as Director of Connecticut Regulatory Affairs, is taking the helm following the retirement of Rod Powell, who stepped down as President of Corporate Citizenship on Dec. 31 following a career with Eversource and its legacy companies that spanned nearly 40 years.

"We're honored at Eversource to be nationally-recognized as a leading company for our social corporate responsibility and our commitment to the communities we serve," said Eversource Chairman, President and CEO Jim Judge. "Theresa has long been a champion of programs and services that advocate for our customers, and her experience will help guide the Foundation to continue making meaningful and impactful investments across our region."

"I am excited for this opportunity and look forward to working with our community partners to address the challenges they face and foster growth in our communities," said Hopkins-Staten.

Hopkins-Staten began her career at Eversource in the Legal Department as Senior Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary. Several years later, she became President of the Company's Foundation and Director of Corporate Community Relations, developing programs to assist limited income customers, and strategically invested millions of dollars in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She went on to serve as Director of Connecticut Regulatory Affairs, developing internal policy to ensure compliance with state regulatory agencies.

In addition to numerous awards and recognitions, she earned a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree (PhD) from Goodwin University.  She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. magna cum laude in Sociology and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
