Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Names Susan Dana as Director of Development -- Major Gifts Program

HARTFORD, CT -- The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is pleased to announce that Susan H. Dana has been hired to serve as the new Director of the Development -- Major Gifts Program. Dana comes to the role with more than 20 years as a senior-level philanthropy director with vast solicitation and cultivation experience, most recently serving as Director of Major Gifts for Hartford Hospital.

“We are incredibly excited to have Sue join the Hartford Foundation’s development team,” said Hartford Foundation Vice President for Development Deborah Rothstein. “She has a successful track record of closing large gifts at hospitals and educational institutions and serving in a leadership capacity in major capital campaigns. Sue’s extensive development experience will elevate our efforts to bring new donors to the Foundation and grow our endowment to better serve our communities.” 

Prior to her role at Hartford Hospital, Dana served as director of development, alumni and parent relations at Kingswood-Oxford School and director of development at Wilbraham and Munson Academy in Massachusetts. Dana also served as director of admission and financial aid, math teacher and coach at Friend’s Central School in Pennsylvania and was a math teacher, administrator and coach at Kingswood-Oxford School.

Given my past work with major giving I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience to help further their incredible work.”

A resident of West Hartford, Dana is also an active member of the Greater Hartford community with a broad range of experience as a volunteer and board member for local organizations and a coach for  West Hartford youth athletic teams.

It is dedicated to putting philanthropy into action to create lasting solutions that result in vibrant communities within the Greater Hartford region. The Foundation’s grantmaking is made possible through generous gifts from individuals, families, and organizations. It has awarded grants of more than $758 million since its founding.
