Local Habitat for Humanity chapters and Bank of America partner on fifth annual Global Build in Connecticut

BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Local Habitat for Humanity affiliates and Bank of America recently came together in Connecticut as part of Bank of America’s fifth annual Global Build in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. From September 29 through October 6, Bank of America employee volunteers worked alongside different Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the globe to help build homes and address affordable housing needs.

“When people have a place to call home, our community as a whole can thrive,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut market president at Bank of America. “We understand that having access to affordable housing is critical to being on a path toward financial stability and success, which is why we’re proud to participate in our fifth annual Global Build with Habitat for Humanity.”

In Connecticut, nearly 60 Bank of America employee volunteers are participating in Global Build, through a home build in Bridgeport with Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, as well as the construction of playhouses, which once completed, will be auctioned off with all proceeds benefitting Habitat for Humanity of Hartford. Bank of America is providing over $60,000 in funding to six local Habitat for Humanity chapters across the state, including:

  • Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County
  • Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut
  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven
  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Waterbury
  • Habitat for Humanity of Hartford
  • Housatonic Habitat for Humanity

Habitat and Bank of America have partnered for more than 30 years, helping homeowners build or improve the places they call home. As part of this year’s Global Build, more than 2,300 Bank of America employees are expected to volunteer their time in more than 100 communities in seven countries around the world.
