Thursday, March 19, 2020

BRISTOL, CT -- Main Street Community Foundation (MSCF) has established the COVID-19 Response Fund to help our local communities mobilize the necessary resources to support the current emerging needs in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.

With this Fund, MSCF hopes to rapidly deploy flexible resources to help in areas affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

"Unfortunately, we are seeing our communities experience uncertainty, job loss and the closure of shops and restaurants," said Susan Sadecki, MSCF's President & CEO. "In the wake of this, nonprofits will experience increased demand to assist those in need. This Fund is designed to give added support to those nonprofit organizations on the front lines meeting the basic needs of local residents.”

MSCF encourages individual donors, companies and other funders to contribute to the COVID-19 Response Fund. MSCF will work in partnership with town governments and other funders to ensure the Fund has maximum reach and effectiveness.

"We know our communities will see an increased need for services in areas such as food insecurity, childcare, transportation, mental and physical wellbeing and more. MSCF wants to be there to help wherever we can," Sadecki added.

To help your communities during this crisis, please consider donating to the COVID-19 Response Fund here: www.mainstreetfoundation.org/covid19-fund. Please note - the Foundation will not charge any administrative fees to this Fund.

The Main Street Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for both present and future generations in the communities served by encouraging and promoting gift planning, prudent stewardship of assets, effective grantmaking and community leadership. A nonprofit public charity, created by private citizens, the foundation works with donors in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott who wish to build permanent charitable endowments to support their communities. Since its founding in 1995, the foundation has provided over $19.3 million in grants and scholarships.
