Travelers Championship to deliver world-class golf through a 10-year agreement
HARTFORD, CT -- Travelers (NYSE:TRV) today announced that it has reached an agreement with the PGA TOUR to extend the company’s title sponsorship of Connecticut’s only professional golf event, the Travelers Championship. The new agreement runs through 2024.
“We are pleased to continue our relationship with the PGA TOUR, which ensures that more than 100 non-profit organizations across the region will continue to benefit from Connecticut’s premier golf tournament,” said Jay Fishman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Travelers. “The tournament has grown tremendously in the last seven years and has exceeded our expectations. With this agreement, we will continue to build on this world-class event for the fans, the players, our employees and our community.”

In addition to the title sponsorship, the PGA TOUR and Travelers have extended their official marketing relationship. Travelers will continue as the “Official Property Casualty Insurance Provider of the PGA TOUR, Web.com and Champions Tour” through 2018.

Since Travelers became the title sponsor in 2007, the Travelers Championship has generated more than $7 million for charities throughout the region, such as The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a summer camp for children dealing with life-threatening illnesses. In addition, the tournament has made a number of improvements that have earned it recognition with PGA TOUR awards, including the “Most Fan-Friendly Event,” “Best Title Sponsor Integration,” “Best Branding / Signage,” “Best Marketing Plan,” “Best Use of Players” and “Best Charity Integration.” These improvements include:
- Building a 23-acre practice facility, which is one of the largest on the PGA TOUR;
- Adding family-friendly concerts to the Fan Zone;
- Holding a 5K road race to help generate additional funds for charity; and
- Incorporating into tournament week Women’s Day and Operation Shower, which holds baby showers for expecting military families.

In celebration of Travelers’ title sponsorship renewal in 2014, the Travelers Championship will offer fan enhancements, including special ticket offers and a new Fan Appreciation Day on the Wednesday of tournament week, featuring giveaways, a chance to win money for charity and more.
Since Travelers became title sponsor in 2007, tournament winners have included Hunter Mahan, Stewart Cink, Kenny Perry, Bubba Watson, Freddie Jacobson, Mark Leishman and Ken Duke. Five of the seven champions collected their first PGA TOUR victory at the event, including Mahan, Watson, Jacobson, Leishman and Duke.
The 2014 Travelers Championship will be held June 16-22 and will be televised in the United States and internationally. The first and second rounds as well as early coverage of the final two rounds will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel, and the third and fourth rounds will be broadcast live on CBS.
