About CONNECT2024: Stories to Inspire Action
“Everything we believe comes from a story we’ve been told.” –Heather McGhee, The Sum of Us
Stories hold immense power—they shape our perceptions, beliefs, and actions. The stories we tell determine how we see the world and our place within it. Stories can define issues and solutions and inspire and unite us around a common purpose. In the philanthropic sector, there is no more powerful tool.
The stories we listen to determine how we approach our giving, and the stories we tell engage others in our work to make a difference in Connecticut and beyond.
Join us for a day of learning and connection as we explore and experience the art of storytelling as a way to gain deeper insights into our work and our world. Through engaging performances and plenaries, deep dive breakouts, an insightful keynote, and curated networking, we’ll explore key questions to move philanthropy forward. How can we better understand the story of Connecticut and the communities who call it home? How can we best continue the legacy of giving in Connecticut, a story of philanthropy stretching back over a century? And how can funders use this powerful tool to advance work and make a positive difference?
Keynote Speaker: We are delighted to welcome this year's keynote speaker, Andy Goodman. Author, lecturer, and internationally-known expert in strategic communications, Andy is one of the leading thinkers and instructors on the art of storytelling as a powerful tool for organizations to move their missions and achieve their goals. As co-founder of the Goodman Center, he has led hundreds of workshops and seminars for businesses, nonprofits, and foundations all over the world. His approach to teaching the art of storytelling blends subject expertise with great humanity and humor, and is sure to provide tools you can use to move your work forward.
