HARTFORD, CT -- Hartford is home to an estimated 6,000 youth ages 16 to 24 who are neither in school nor working, often referred to as “Opportunity Youth.” One of the most significant needs these young people have is obtaining soft job skills, training, credentials, and real world work experience that employers demand. Some of these young people will receive the training and opportunities they need thanks to a two-year, $250,000 grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to Billings Forge Community Works, in collaboration with Our Piece of the Pie®, Inc. (OPP®), that will support an Opportunity Youth Job Training Program.
