Study Looks at State of Naugatuck River

NAUGATUCK, CT -- Quinnipiac Professor Courtney McGinnis spent the summer studying the river quality thanks to a $7,876 grant from the Connecticut Community Foundation. She and two research assistants specifically looked for the presence of phthalates, a group of chemicals used to make plastics more flexible.

Newman's Own Foundation Supports Wild Earth Allies With $500K Grant

WESTPORT, CT -- Newman's Own Foundation, founded by the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, provided a grant of $500,000 to Wild Earth Allies to support their global conservation work. The funds will help Wild Earth Allies launch The Wild Fund to protect more of the earth's vital wildlife and habitats.

New Program to Help Towns Become More Sustainable

HARTFORD, CT -- Three Connecticut foundations, the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, Hampshire Foundation and Common Sense Fund, are helping to make Connecticut more sustatainable. More than 200 municipal, business and nonprofit leaders partnered with Eastern Connecticut State University, the Connecticut Economic Resource Center and CCM over the last year to create Sustainable CT.
