Latino Endowment Fund Successfully Raises $50,000 to Receive Matching Grant from the Knight Foundation

HARTFORD, CT -- In May 2017, Alberto Ibargüen, president of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, came to Hartford and announced a surprise in the form of a $50,000 matching grant to the Latino Endowment Fund (LEF) at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Less than two years after Ibargüen’s announcement, the Latino Endowment Fund is pleased to announce that it has successfully raised $50,000 making it eligible for the dollar for dollar grant, thus doubling the matching contribution from new or renewing memberships and other donations.

NORWALK, CT -- Fairfield County’s Community Foundation announced the launch of the new Fairfield County’s Giving Day WHY I GIVE video contest to give nonprofits participating in Giving Day the opportunity to truly sizzle, spread their message and create awareness for their missions. Contest video submissions can be made from Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 12:00am ET through Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:59 pm ET.

A Spotlight on Corporate Giving and Nonprofits - Hartford Business Journal Community Excellence and Nonprofit Awards

HARTFORD, CT -- As part of Hartford Business Journal's efforts to spotlight the important role of nonprofits, and the businesses that support them, they've launched their inaugural Community Excellence & Nonprofit Awards.  The independent panel of judges — Susan D. Sadecki, president and CEO, Main Street Community Foundation; Eric Daniels, partner, Robinson & Cole LLP; and David Garvey, director, nonprofit leadership program and adjunct professor, Department of Public Policy, UConn — selected the winners, who were nominated by the public, in seven different categories ranging from corporate citizenship and volunteer of the year to nonprofit and nonprofit leader of the year. Honorees for the Partnership Award include: include The Hartford, City of Hartford, Hartford Public Library, and CCP members Aetna Inc., and Travelers Cos.
