Get on the Map!

Get on the Map (GOTM) is a campaign to improve the quality, timeliness & availability of grantmaking activity across the US.

GOTM captures grantmaking data which is more detailed than reported on the Form 990. This data is available through an online mapping tool engineered by the Foundation Center, in partnership with CCP. This mapping tool, called Foundation Maps, can help identify gaps in funding. A benefit of CCP membership is access to Foundation Maps which includes all submitted grantmaking data from Connecticut.

When you share your grant information for Foundation Maps, you make a powerful contribution to two other data initiatives that CCP has undertaken with Foundation Center to tell the story of philanthropy in Connecticut. Your data also powers:

The campaign to "Get on the Map" is a partnership between the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy, the Foundation Center and the United Philanthropy Forum.

How to Get on the Map

It's easy to share your grants data to Get on the Map!

All you need to do is:

  1. Register for a Foundation Center Updater account >>
  2. Upload your Fiscal Data (IRS 990 or 990PF)
  3. Export a complete list of your most recent grants data in a spreadsheet following this template. Foundation Center's software partners have made this easy by building a report into their systems.
  4. Upload your grants file in Updater’s “Upload Grants” section.

Feel free to upload your latest grants data, as well as your past grants, too! Our Connecticut Foundation Stats represent 2013, 2014, and 2015. We will be launching the 2016 and 2017 data as soon as we have a presentable number of grantmakers represented.
