HARTFORD, CT -- About 13,000 residents of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands who arrived in Connecticut in the aftermath of the hurricanes Maria and Irma continue to struggle with obtaining basic needs including adequate housing, food, medical care and jobs, according to a survey commissioned by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
NEW BRITAIN, CT -- The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB) and New Britain Bees professional baseball club will join forces on Saturday, May 19, to raise money for victims of Hurricane Maria and to treat hundreds of New Britain school students and their family members from Puerto Rico displaced by last fall’s devastating storm to a night at the ballpark.
NEW BRITAIN, CT -- With the Hurricane Maria Puerto Rico Relief Fund well on its way to $50,000 in donations, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain and American Savings Foundation – which teamed together in late September to establish the fund in the wake of the devastating storm – have announced that the grant application process has been opened to non-profit organizations in the Greater New Britain area seeking assistance with relocation efforts of hurricane victims.
WATERBURY, CT -- Following the recent hurricanes that devastated Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, hundreds of people have relocated to Connecticut — particularly to urban centers such as Greater Waterbury. Connecticut Community Foundation and the American Savings Foundation are rallying philanthropic dollars to help hurricane survivors settle into local communities and get the assistance they need while rebuilding happens back home in Puerto Rico.
HARTFORD, CT -- In an effort to be more nimble and responsive to unforeseen natural disasters, violence and other incidents that impact residents in the Greater Hartford region, The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has established the "Respond-Rebuild-Renew Fund." The Foundation has made an initial $25,000 contribution to the fund.
