NEW HAVEN, CT -- The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (The Foundation) and United Way of Greater New Haven (United Way) are pleased to announce that more than $1.4 million has been awarded to 80 organizations from the Greater New Haven COVID-19 Community Fund (The Fund).

HARTFORD, CT -- State and local officials during a socially distanced groundbreaking ceremony praised the 30,000-square-foot development’s goal of serving an additional 1,500 children in the city’s southeast corridor at the former Alfred E. Burr Elementary School.  A campaign aimed at financing the new clubhouse has raised $21 million of its $20-million fundraising goal to cover the cost of construction and operation of the club for the first five years. Donations of $1 million were also provided by Travelers Cos., Stanley Black & Decker and Raytheon Technologies Corp. (formerly United Technologies Corp.).  Bank of America donated $750,000, Hartford law firm Shipman & Goodwin LLP donated $250,000 and an anonymous donor contributed $1 million.

BERLIN, CT -- Comcast NBCUniversal has awarded $45,000 in scholarships for the 2020-2021 school year to 18 Connecticut students as part of its annual Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program. Students are selected for their outstanding community service, academic performance, and leadership skills. 

BLOOMFIELD, CT -- The Cigna Foundation is inviting nonprofits working to create greater access to mental health services to apply for funding through its Healthier Kids For Our Future grant program. The program will provide up to a total of $5 million in grants to community organizations over the next year.

HARTFORD, CT -- Nearly $1 million in federal support for food, emergency shelters, and homeless prevention services has been awarded to 25 non-profits and municipalities in Hartford County, according to United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.
