Connecticut Will Have Its First Statewide, Publicly Accessible Data Source to Assist Voter Registration, Voter Turnout Efforts
HARTFORD, CT -- The Connecticut Data Collaborative (CT Data) is constructing a public data platform designed to provide organizations seeking to increase voter registration and voting in Connecticut with the data necessary to more effectively target their efforts. Utilizing civic engagement grant funds awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, CT Data will provide data, analysis and technical assistance that will encourage the use of data to inform voter registration outreach efforts.

MSCF is now accepting applications for operating support grants to provide flexible general operating resources to nonprofit organizations affected by COVID-19. HARTFORD, CT -- Six school districts in Connecticut will begin the school year with new Chromebooks and home Internet connectivity, enabling distance learning for the first time for nearly 3,000 students from underserved communities. The $1 million initiative will support students in kindergarten through Grade 5 in the Bloomfield, East Hartford, Manchester, Vernon, Windsor, and Windsor Locks school districts. The grants, awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and made possible through funding from The LEGO Group and The LEGO Foundation, are being distributed by First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise focused on equal access to quality education.

Thousands of pieces of PPE donated to Waterbury-area non-profits
CHESHIRE, CT -- A team effort full of heart will help more than 100 non-profits in more than 20 towns in the Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills areas continue their important work during the COVID-19 pandemic. That team effort is happening at Marion Manufacturing in Cheshire, where workers have volunteered their time to unpack a truck load of PPE so representatives from the non-profits could pick them up. We’re talking about 200,000 surgical masks, 4,000 face shields, close to 800 N-95 masks. All of that made possible because of donations made to a COVID-19 Response Fund by the Greater Waterbury United Way and the Connecticut Community Foundation.
