HARTFORD, CT -- Refugee families from Puerto Rico who are dropped from the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s transitional housing program may be eligible for assistance through a $200,000 grant awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The foundation announced this week that it is making the award to the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, just as 37 families in the state — as of Wednesday — were expected to lose the FEMA or state aid that is supporting them at various hotels around the state, including Hartford’s Red Roof Inn.

WATERBURY, CT -- Applications are now open for students residing in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills to apply for college scholarships from Connecticut Community Foundation for the 2018-19 academic year. SOUTHINGTON, CT -- The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain in 2017 awarded three grants to Southington organizations totaling $42,500 in aid. From 2012 to 2017, CFGNB has provided Southington, either to organizations directly in town or to organizations outside of town with a local impact, with more than $2 million in financial aid.
